The most spectacular film of the year. The acting is superb, the sets are fabulous, and the special effects are to die for. Simply put, this is a movie unlike anything you've ever seen before or hence. This is the way filmmaking should be.

The most underrated movie of the year, this film didn't even have the fortune of securing a wide release in U.S. theaters. It's hard to market such a film because it doesn't mold into any preset category. However, that doesn't mean that it isn't the most enjoyable film and the one that you can imagine watching over and over.

This film has one of the most creative concepts of putting the story together. The cinematography in this film is breathtaking, the performances are all well-rounded, and the story is heartfelt and emotional without purposefully pulling on heartstrings.

It might be a comic book movie adaptation, but it is also the most fun to have been had at the movies in 2008. And it finally proves, once and for all, what was clear ages ago - really good actors can make any film spectacular. For his share, Robert Downey Jr. makes Iron Man the ultimate guilty pleasure, and in turn, this film makes him a bona fide $20 million/per film Hollywood star.

This film includes three very underrated performances from Ricky Gervais, Greg Kinnear, and Tea Leoni.

This is an honorable mention (#11) because Penelope carries the "made in 2006" sticker. It wasn't released in theaters (or otherwise) in the U.S. until this year. Another film that was mismarketed, this modern-day fairytale is charming and heartfelt and has a great message to boot.
