The visuals here are excellent for reasons vastly different from both Wall-E and Avatar: Gritty realism. Sourced from an already stylized and deliberately grainy film, Saving Private Ryan is still the benchmark for all realistic war movies.

In terms of visual style and cool-factor, J.J. Abrams' reboot of Star Trek is unmatched. Fortunately for us A/V exhibitionists, the visual presentation is paired with an otherwise great story.

Another reboot that received a great storyline with equally great visuals. Transformers is another great cinematic experience appropriate for the whole family.

For all the reasons Wall-E has been included on this list, Ratatouille has been given similar commendation. This is another beautiful film that you'll be excited to watch along with the kids.

While the story leaves something to be desired, the visual and audio presentation of Avatar is simply superior to any other live-action movie. Throw narrative expectation out the door with this one and simply bask in the breathtaking visuals present throughout.
